Cable cutters or wire cutters are usually hand-held tools requiring a simple one or two handed operation, using two steel blades to cut through wires or cables, similar to a pair of scissors. Depending on the gauge of cable to be cut there is a variety of cutters to choose from, from small pocket sized wire cutters to larger heavy duty cable cutters. When working with electrical cables it is recommended to use VDE certified insulated cable cutters as an extra precaution.
